Financial support bursary
If your household income (the money that your parents/carers earn together) is below £25,000 then you will be eligible for bursaries in each year of study. Bursaries will typically be £1,000 per year.
Hardship grants
We know that your financial situation can change at any time. To try and support you when you most need help, we have a dedicated fund for hardship grants which are decided on a case-by-case basis. You can access multiple hardship grants at any time of study at LIS.
The LIS Foundation
We have set up a charity – the LIS Foundation – to provide additional support to students. You can read more about it on the LIS Foundation page.
The LIS Trustees have indicated that a range of awards will be available for students in the following groups:
(i) Students from relatively low-income households (£25,000- £45,000) [please note that those whose household income is below £25k are entitled to a LIS bursary (see above)]
(ii) Students who are estranged from their parents
(iii) Students with experience of being in care
Bursaries will be awarded on an annual basis with an application process. If your circumstances do not change, a grant given in year 1 of study is likely to be renewed in years 2 and 3. Bursaries will typically be in the range of £1,000 for students from low income households and up to £2,000 for students who are estranged from their parents or who have experience of being in care.
Other sources of income
As part of our internships programme, we will be brokering opportunities for all our students. We will ensure that all internships pay at least the London Living Wage and expect that a typical 5-week internship will be worth approximately £2,000.
International Students
Bursaries are not available to international students. You can find more information about our international scholarship awards on the scholarships page.
You’ll be charged tuition fees for every academic year you study at LIS. This fee covers all elements of your enrolment, tuition, supervision and assessment for the full academic year. It does not cover accommodation, living costs, books, learning materials (including a laptop computer) or travel. As we have achieved registration and degree awarding powers, you’ll be able to apply to Student Finance to cover your tuition fees, and to provide a maintenance loan.
If you suspend or withdraw during a year of study, you can find the amount of tuition fees you’ll be liable to pay and your eligibility for refunds in the Tuition Fee Refund Policy.
If you make a complaint in relation to our delivery of the degree and the complaint is upheld, or in the rare event that there has been a material breach of contract by the School, eligibility for refund or compensation will be considered under the School’s Student Compensation and Refund Policy.
Our Terms and Conditions set out that where fees are not paid, the School may suspend and withhold educational services, with reasonable notice.
